PorcFest is a libertarian conference in New Hampshire that I'm going to next week. I might be doing a few talks there, but one in particular I get the freedom to do whatever as part of the fact that The Local Maximum is a sponsor.
What do you think of this talk description? Anything you'd change? Anything you like?
Despite the fact that many technological visionaries and investors either have libertarian ideas or support an environment that were friendly to people with a variety of different points of view, software companies, particular those based on New York and San Francisco have been overtaken by a severe political culture that seeks to find and isolate libertarians among others.
Every libertarian software and tech talks about their company as being worse than the next!
Max Sklar, host of the Local Maximum Podcast, worked as a software and machine learning engineer in New York from 2006 - 2020, including a masters at NYU followed by over a decade at Foursquare labs.
Max will talk about what has happened while recounting some (often amusing) examples from his 15 years in the industry, as well as holding a discussion about strategies for dealing with this and hopefully turning it around.
Aaron ( @OldWindways ) stopped by yesterday and we talked about the private space initiatives of Branson (Virgin Galactic), Bezos, and Musk.
Starting today, all your paid subscriptions will be moved over to substack!
I'm still a huge fan of the locals platform, but with my small audience, and desire to publish podcasts and articles directly, substack is a better fit for The Local Maximum right now.
The substack is at localmaximum.substack.com - you should be getting some emails for the latest episodes. Always feel free to reach out at [email protected]
Folks - I know we've been on hiatus for the last few weeks, but I'm looking forward to getting back into the Local Maximum, and also supporting our move over to substack! I hope to reach out to you individually as well!
Happy holidays everyone!
Let's disrupt our festivities with some thought-provoking insights into our future.
In this week's episode, Max and Aaron finished their discussion on "The Fourth Turning is Here" and talk about what may be in store for the rest of the Fourth Turning Crisis and what the next several decades might look like as a result.
Make sure to tune in as you welcome the new year!
